I have loved this song since I was a kid. I have only recently began looking at the possible meanings of the lyrics of some of these songs, why I was attracted to them before I could ever have known. To me, this sounds like the experience of someone who is in a shitty marriage perhaps, and goes for a drink and looks at the girl in the satin shirt and connects with her in an at first anyway unspoken way. They both feel the same and they know it. The guy is thinking he may "fuck it, let go the line, meaning approach this woman and of course the possibility of the sexual encounter is implicit. What I like today is that it mimics my own life experience, and the feeling that the connection is more than just physical, it is a connection between two people hurting in much the same way. My two cents.
