I think their is more than meets the eye to this song...
Considering the theme of this album being Dolores introspection and reflection on her hardships and emotional turmoil I believe this is a song about how her inner demons are conflicting with her ability to love and be in a relationship someone
It's important to note that she says she has been "holding on... since I met you"
unless their relationship has been on the rocks from the very beginning she must be "holding on" to something else for some other reason
Coming from someone who has experience with depression some of the things that she says strike a chord with me such as "would you notice If I left you" which sounds like something someone would ask themselves in reference to committing suicide which makes me think when she says she is holding on she is referring to life or hope, rather than the relationship.
further more for someone dealing with mental anguish it can be frustrating when you feel like someone you depend on doesn't understand your situation which is why "And it's fine for some/ 'Cause you're not the one." makes a lot of sense to me
"All night long, I laid on my pillow/ These things are wrong/ I can't sleep here"
sleepless nights are a symptom of anxiety and depression, "I have decided to leave you forever" the extreme finality of this statement is eerily reminiscent of the finality of death or the decision to commit suicide. need I say more? The thunder and lightning part is to show how extreme her emotions are by saying "even something as powerful as lightning could not destroy these feelings inside of me"
Finally I think the song ends with her trying to distract herself from the grim reality of her thoughts by focusing on something rather benign and positive in nature like flowers or in this case daffodils "And the daffodils look lovely today".
it's important to note the symbolism of daffodils and how frail they are to be blown away by something as soft as wind just as her constitution and will to stay alive are frail and hanging by a thread.
