Well what I get out of this song is St. Dymphna is the patron saint of emotional disorders. There's a few lines that touch on struggle with depression. The line "we can stay til St. Dymphna kicks us out" I believe is like saying we can stay until our emotions get the best of us. It's nicely written just like all Conor Oberst songs.
