When I first heard this song it made me cry because I felt every lyric relate to me. So he begins by saying he has always been practical, but out of the blue, here's this person that makes him let go of his normal self. The chorus goes to say that this person makes him feel like he can fly and is never gonna die. He is almost with this person entirely, but now that person is flying out of sight, living their own life without him just fine, and he can't be with him/her. (most likely a her in his case) The second verse says he never thought he'd meet someone who'd change him like that. The bridge near the end, or third verse, says that he wished he never knew how amazing and free this person made him feel, because now they've flown out of sight, and he will never be with that person.
