The Arsonist Lyrics

To me this song is about someone who is suffering from the consequences of his own mistakes. Feeling alone after losing people to be more precise.

“Fire, fire, the bridge is on fire Burning away your last connection Fire, fire, our bridge is on fire Your social skills resemble arson“

Burning bridges means eliminating any possibilities of return. The social skills of the protagonist (let's call him Beavis from now on) seem to have him left alone and without any friends to return to.

“You seem okay with this So deleterious Remorse for you is not an option“

Beavis is stubborn and not willing to apologise even. He won't show no remorse, considering it a weakness, even though he is clearly feeling bad as one of the following lines will show.

“Beavis sure do love his matches“

One of the protagonists of the well-known tv show “Beavis and Butthead“ seemed to be obsessed with fire and arson making the name a fitting choice for the Beavis of this song.

“Choking on the smoke from the fire you’ve started Choking on the ash from the bridges you’ve burned“

This is where we can certainly say that Beavis is in fact the one suffering the most from his own mistakes. The bridges he has burned/relationships he destroyed have led to him being alone and depressed. Still he won't admit that he was wrong.
