There was no foundation to their love. They couldn't really even get started - hence, there being no blueprint (an architect's drawing).

They had an initial attraction and maybe they were keen to start a relationship but things fell apart for whatever reason. And they will both always remember that and feel wistful about the fact things could never be.
However you like to interpret it, I can relate to it in my own way. I knew a guy and we were really attracted to each other. But despite multiple tries to start a relationship with him it just fell apart - he couldn't fully commit / had too many other priorities, and so it was definitely "broken from the start"... The architect of love won't remember us!! haha...
