This song to me is about first love. The bliss of being in love with someone for the first time, and having them be madly in love with you. You're filled with joy in the moment, and even if he and his friends run in different circles, he's so happy and proud to be with you, and shows you off to them. The future is an exciting thing, because you think it will be filled with being present in each other's love forever..
@Maisie22 Michael Pinder wrote the song, he was the keyboardist and the man who added the spiritual flavor to their music. He left the band and joined a commune somewhere in the Southwest, I think it was near Sedona. He believed that extraterrestrial helped populate our planet and they were returning...no, he wasn't delusional, just got caught up in that belief for a while in the 70s...if I recall, he hooked up with the band again for a while later in the century. When he left the band the first time, the sound/lyrics changed quite a bit...I love your interpretation...

The lyrics spoke to you in that way, and that is the essence of art - speaks to each of us in ways that we are receptive to and perhaps even looking for?
