Now, a dark master exhorts his troops to "kill the hordes of the sun" and to finish Angelheart, so they could "toast to the fallen one".
The choir (people of earth?) knows their doom. The darkness consumes all.

I think is about an epic battle between light and darkness.
A great hero, Angelheart, is born. He is meant to be king of light, or the dawn (representing the birth of light, as it seems from Earth).
But a powerful dark being is awakened ("Blood of a child was shed": human sacrifice?), maybe sleeping since before Angelheart's birth, or even inside himself ("To stain the soul so pure"). He lives again/awakes. This reminds me of the death-like sleep of Cthulhu.
Then the hero falls. He is dying, and the choir claims for help from the "guardians of light".
