Lost Boy Lyrics

Peter Pan is a story about not growing up, and about childhood. Childhood is for many a time of joy, innocence and being carefree. Neverland is a place that exists in the moment, like a child's mind. The character of Peter is someone who is never past that moment he lives in. I think this song is about getting back to those feelings of childhood, back to that carefree nature during times of struggle to even nessesarily during deep depressive episodes, but just general sad or disappointing times. It's about living in the moment and not thinking to the future.

There was a time when I was alone Nowhere to go and no place to call home My only friend was the man in the moon And even sometimes he would go away, too -- I think this sets the tone. The speaker feels lost and alone in the world. He feels unconnected to his home (and family) and finds himself without friends. At this moment in his life he is not at a good place.

Then one night, as I closed my eyes I saw a shadow flying high He came to me with the sweetest smile Told me he wanted to talk for awhile He said, "Peter Pan, that's what they call me I promise that you'll never be lonely," and ever since that day -- I think he finds a brighter note in his life. Someway and through something ( let's say music or art, or writing) he gets to a better place in his mind. A place where he isn't lost and alone. As long as he has that he can't be alone. Peter Pan is a representation of whatever he is using to feel less lost.

He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe Believe in him and believe in me Together we will fly away in a cloud of green To your beautiful destiny As we soared above the town that never loved me I realized I finally had a family Soon enough we reached Neverland Peacefully my feet hit the sand And ever since that day

-- the joy of what he found has made him more confident in himself, wants him to believe he can make it. This thing sprinkles him with pixie dust because it allows him to escape. He can get away from his unhappiness. His Peter Pan (music, art, writing), takes him to Neverland. It's takes him to the moment. He is not looking to the past of the future, he is just existing in the now (i.e.-Neverland)

I am a lost boy from Neverland Usually hanging out with Peter Pan And when we're bored we play in the woods Always on the run from Captain Hook "Run, run, lost boy," they say to me Away from all of reality -- love these lyrics. Ever since he found his "Peter Pan" he is with him/it. He isn't lost depresses anymore, because he is (playing music, painting, writing, etc). He is on the run from his Captain Hook ( his enemy, the things that bring him down). The times he is with his "Peter Pan" he is in "Neverland", i.e. Not worrying about anything but the present.

Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling Even Captain Hook, you are my perfect story book Neverland, I love you so You are now my home sweet home Forever a lost boy at last -- I think here he realizes that the things that make him happy, and even troubling times and things makes his life meaningful. Without bad there is no good and he knows this. Even if there are bad times he always has his Neverland to retreat to. It's a place he will always be able to get to through his "Peter Pan"
