I don't know for sure, but what I interpret this as is his life flying by and how he eventually has to move on but he enjoyed his life and is now ready to die. I think the "burn the house down" is him metaphorically burning the important things in his life so he can move on. Although the song takes place in a night, I think it is symbolic of his life
