It has a different meaning depending on your life's experience. At this moment, my son is in prison for drug charges. He has fought this addiction for 25 years and relapses every 7 years or so. He is an intelligent, hard working, talented man who struggles every day he breathes and would sometimes "just stop breathing" so it is my job and duty to pray for him and NOT LET GO, because he is a little unsteady and I am as well. This is a family disease and his entire family has to hold on. I listen every day as I write to him or pray for him. Although very heart rending, it reminds me that all I have to do is HOLD ON

Wow! I never thought of it this way!.. but thank you for sharing that. I myself am a recovering addict. Been sober 3 years now, but my brother on the other hand hasnt found his way yet. Off and on now for 20+ years he has been in and out of jail and destroying himself. I totally agree when you say its a family disease. Addiction effects the person afflicted by it and everyone around him/her. Family for sure especially their parents (most of the time mom) This is such a great song and so many meanings. I am going...
