Being an addict myself, I can tell you that this is definitely about being addicted. Be it pills or any other addiction. No one can truly understand what the addict is going through unless they experience it themselves, through the eyes of an addict. Once the addict is sober they can actually see what's killing them and therefore are able to write songs such as this one. Definitely one of my favorites from Linda Perry.
