For some reason, I keep picturing an angel falling from grace and losing their wings because they fell in love with someone they weren't supposed to (most likely a human). There's a very celestial/heavenly vibe to this song with all the talk of feathers and the wind and the singer's soul being made clean. The line "Yes, I am a dreamer and these feathers, they won't stay" makes it seem like the narrator knows they won't stay clean for long and that they will end up doing the 'wrong' thing, which is in this case (maybe) following their 'dream' of love. That line is followed by the chorus, which kind of sounds like the singer's in agony over their decision, but at the same time willing to go through with it for the sake of love. The "even though love is going to kill me" part reminds me of song lyrics from OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" that say "I feel something so right/Doing the wrong thing/I feel something so wrong/Doing the right thing....Everything that kills me makes me feel alive". Being in love makes the narrator feel alive just as much as it harms them (in some way). I don't know if that makes sense, but that's what I've always pictured whenever I hear this song.
