My personal interpretation of this song is that it has parts that recognize the struggles of being gay.

"Kissed all the boys in your city lights" could refer to anyone, but later in the song the person is referred to as "little boy," so you could potentially assume they are male.

"They always told me that you'll never get to Heaven with a life like yours." To me, this could be taken as the known struggle of gay people constantly being told that they can't get to Heaven, that Hell is the only place they are destined to go unless they change their "lifestyle" (which, of course, they can't).

"Not ashamed of what I am." This part really could go either way on fitting into this interpretation, but it could potentially show that the person in question is trying to prove that they have nothing to be ashamed of in what they are.

"And you made me who I am, be afraid of what I am." When I first heard this, I misheard it as "You made be afraid of what I am," which is something that happens to a lot of gay people. But this lyric could work as well. The person in question could be pointing out that the hate they received could just make them stronger, and that everyone who ever did them wrong should be afraid of who they have become.

I don't know, that's just one potential interpretation of an undoubtedly fantastic song.
