Awesome song, tricky lyrics though. It's kinda clear what is going on in them sentimentally but it could be put in so many different contexts...
Given the revenge theme (don't fuck with me, I'm back and I want what is mine) as well as the line "the worst thing that happened was I was standing too close to your heart" shows that some kind of betrayal has taken place there. So there are two ways this could be seen:
The more superficial, but maybe also more obvious interpretation, is that of a girl that broke up with him. The sea would be his love for this girl. It started out as a safe thing, he could enjoy the sea with it's dangers since he was safe on the ship ("The ship was the love of my life"), . Then something happened, could be the girl cheating or just the break up or something completely different, and the two of them "went down together". Somehow the girl got out though, probably cause she was the one ending the relationship, while he, without the "ship", got lost in the sea i.e. the pain and regret that comes with a break up. While for a long time he was depressed, now he's moved on to another stage of grief; he's angry at the girl, he feels like she ripped his personality off him and betrayed him when he trusted and loved her (the part about being too close to her heart). He's tired of feeling so bad and snapped out of his delirium, therefore he's "awake" now and sees all the shit she's put him through. (I'm tired and bout to wake up)
The other interpretation refers to a betrayal that couldd come for anyone he trusted, family, friends, a loved one. Again, they ripped him off his safety by betraying him. That shocked and hurt him so much that, instead of reacting, he backed away to grief about this whole situation. Now he's recovered and is back to finally revenge what's been done to him, and he warns whoever abused his trust not to fuck with him anymore and and just give up already.
Ok, that's all I've got to say. Hope it makes some kind of sense :)
