I think this song is about a relationship gone downhill as time went on. And the guy feels like he basically wasted his time on feeling sad and wanting to kill himself over her for all the time he was with her.

He just wants to move on from that terrible relationship and all thats left between them is nothing but misunderstanding. And even his dad could see that they werent good together.
