I think it's the divine beings speaking to exiled Adam and the children of men for all generations to follow... and also can be seen almost identically from the opposite viewpoint: Mankind singing to the divine beings by reason of their abandon since the fall. Also can be interpreted as the Prophets to the rest of mankind. But overall, it makes one fine glorious gay anthem.
