I think it has to do with getting through life with an accepted and inevitable uncertainty...and realizing, for better or worse, we only have so much control and we need to look after each other, but nothing is guaranteed. It has both figurative and literal meaning. After all, we are literally all made of "star stuff", all of our atoms are leftovers from some cosmic event some billions of years ago. We are all, quite literally, stars.
