It seems as though its talking about how we find comfort and pleasure in the things of this world instead of in Jesus as we should
How we hear the voice of change behind a vacant note. That voice being God or the holy spirit calling to us but how we instead flock to that empty note or the comforts of this world
"You sell a fix for our defect,
And all you find, artificial light"
Again just saying how its temporary and fake like an artificial light
It all points to the general idea that we lose our connection to God and seek temporary comfort in thw things of this world instead.
