Have a slightly different take on this one... but who knows.

"I'm on the red eye fly to nowhere, good How about you?" Soldier flying out to war. Daydreaming about someone, asking them where they are.

"I've been in the air for hours Meteor showers by the pool" Still flying, coming under anti air fire, looks like meteor showers.. over the ocean/pool

"So one last drink for summer Always leaving never you" Taking one more swig of his flask, thoughts of his life running through his head. He's always leaving, london is never leaving

"Come back to London thunder The sound of sirens in my room" someone telling him to come back to london with the thunder of the blitzkreig.. which trigger the sirens in their room.

"And now the tables turn It's over" Germany was going to win, tables turned and they were defeated. 'War' is over

"And with my fingers burned I start anew" Fingers are the skyscrapers and buildings of london that were destroyed/burned during the bombings, time to start building anew

"And now I've come back down I'm older I look for something else To hold on to" Come down from the height of war and/or the height of london as the top city in the world (now NYC), all it's really known for the better half of the 1900s to now so both london and narrator are looking for some new identity to become

"There is no way to realign Upholster skin I take back every line" can't go back to the way things were, you can get new clothes, new buildings, new upholstery etc wants to start fresh (50s cookie cutter comes to mind)

"Lost my mind in San Fransisco Worn out disco and temper's cool" looking for identity during the 60s, comparable to SF.. it's a stretch :-D things are chill

"There is no water there is no sand Will you come around? Will you come around?" not an exotic destination, kinda lost on this one

"There is no space there is no time Where to draw the line?" There is no space in london, overcrowded, there is no time, traffic etc

"I'm on the red eye fly to nowhere good How about you?" Repeating the lines, repeating history... war all the time, war identity, etc
