seems to me like a post-breakup song, like the sort of thoughts and feelings you have when it's still fresh and raw in your mind. you think about it a lot so you're dreaming about them too
in this verses he also talks a lot about how he thought this girl would "rearrange his world" and she was totally revolutionary, but he winds up just kicking himself because he's caught up and she doesn't give nearly as much of a shit as he does ("you got excited and now you find out that your 'girl' won't even get you undressed or care about your beating chest")
the chorus is like a monologue/internal argument about her and he seems really passionate when he sings it as well ("i can't wait for you boy")
probably my favorite song on the new album because i relate to the frustration in the song & it's also the most 80's-sounding in my opinion :^)
