What she puts in her mouth is communion. The three lump belly is the trinity, but imagined, as it is within, the belly. She convinces and deceives herself "because she is Christian" the "saccharine " love is the cheap feel good message of many sects. It's about Christianity from an outside point of view. The problem is the perspective. An American Christian would be no more qualified to criticize Japan, having never been Japanese. This is quite similar to how old white people will say bad things about Arabs, not understanding them at all. It's an impassioned and poorly informed observation of a movement that the author has never sufficiently researched.
