I grew up listening to this in the early years of house in clubs on drugs with my "hands in the air" I thought at the time it was about the love of friends,or between a man and a woman. Now that I am older and have some more faith and wisdom I know it is a gospel song about when all these things let you down you still have the unconditional love of God to see you through , eternally ;-)
