Cover art for I'm Already Gone lyrics by A Day to Remember

I think the relationship-gone-wrong interpretation could certainly be applied here, but because that's what we normally jump to on this site, I figured I would take a walk off the beaten path.

Because CC is more about the band's roots and leaving Ocala, that's what I see "I'm Already Gone" as, and it furthers that main idea. He thinks that the position he's in is always going to just hold him back, no matter what ("I've worked it out, you'll always bring me down"). He wants to get out, even though everyone says to stay because that's where he's been his whole life ("Just let it go... it's all you've ever known"). Even though they're trying to make him stay, he's made his plans--he's "already gone". He's leaving because he knows that he's valued somewhere, but he just doesn't know where or by who yet ("I'm already something to someone that I don't know"). Even though he's going to leave, he's conflicted and is searching for some reason not to leave ("I'm out making rounds on every side of town that I've been through, that I know, to find my reason to come back home").

I can confidently say this because I've been feeling like that lately. Everyone's telling me just to go with the system and go to college and get some boring job, because that's all I've known here. But I don't want to stay, because I don't think that's the right road for me. Even though I have my mind set on leaving, I'm still trying to find reasons to stay.

That's my interpretation of another incredible acoustic song by A Day to Remember.
