Cover art for Hymn for the Weekend lyrics by Coldplay

Coldplay... They have always been a legendary band for me. They have meaningful and poetic lyrics, emotional songs as well as a conceptual style. Or maybe I should say they used to have. When I first heard this song on the radio I thought it was pretty good and I'd soo get addicted to it. I tagged it only to find out it was a Coldplay song. First I couldn't believe this was Coldplay's because it's so out of style and so pop that I thought Coldplay couldn't have become a superficial band like this. And the real dissapointment was when I checked the lyrics. Remebering the times I had a great time analyzin'Clocks's lyrics I was broken apart with the song's superficial lurics about money, drugs and drinks: stuff that only unqualified artists sing about. To sum up, I hope that Coldplay will realize that they have a lot of fans even if they don't become a band whi make music for the sake of money, not for the sake of art and emotions.

My Opinion

@entpdidem Let me get this straight, you read the lyrics and you still thought this song was about getting high off of literal drugs and alcohol? You're kidding, right? "Life is a drink, and love's a drug"

The whole song is about someone lifting you up like an angel hence Beyonce's role in it.
The fact that you talk about enjoying analyzing songs then fail so miserably with this one gave me a chuckle.
