Speaking of Martin Sheen's character, Kit, Sissy Spacek's character, Holly, says this at one point when they are on the run: "He said that if the devil came at me, I'd shoot him with a gun." In fact, the whole song can be seen as inspired by the film. I love both Ubu and "Badlands!"
