You know how her shame was openly paraded around for morality's sake in the twisted sense of mercy. To me, it seems like any kind of oppression that for some reason is justified in the terms of some twisted, distorted sense of the word mercy and the victim comes to accept it, bows down to it and even comes to like it at times, thinking that what is being done to them is entirely justified. Yet, when they are tortured in the name of mercy, when people say we are punishing you for your own good and shaming you for your own good in the name of being merciful towards you, the victim cannot help but shiver, for the beautiful word of mercy is now synonymous with everything the person fears, hates and maybe at times loves.
