It seems that the person she's singing about is someone who has been with her for a while, but was living like a parasite. Whether they are a sociopath or just a supremely messed up person, their baggage has caused them to only feel comfortable living a lie. It seems like she couldn't find a reason for this person's actions, but still feels that they have good inside of them at that they don't enjoy this life they are living, but she doesn't have a solution as to how to help. If she had, she might stick with them longer and be pulled deeper into the lies, becoming messed up herself.
