There is nothing in this life more important than selfless love. The two phases that absolutely kill me are:
"But I'd never say "I love you," dear
Just to hear you say it back"
AND
"But you'll love her till it all goes dark
You'll love her even after that"
Tell someone you love them, regardless of whether they love you back. Forget what you've heard about "scaring them away". You put a weight on yourself if you have this feeling and don't let it be known. If for no other reason, relieve yourself of the burden of "what could have been done differently" by stating how you really feel. And don't ever expect an "I love you" back... even if you think you deserve one.
