To me this song is about nostalgia. Thinking about a past relationship and thinks by things were better with that person. When they left they felt like a part of what they are was taken away - their "rhythm". Things were so good that they believe they were meant to be so they'll get back together. "I've got a choice/voice" sounds like the relationship also had bad points and that person may have been quite controlling.
