Cover art for Charlotte lyrics by Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions

She's got a rose in her smile
She says she knows and she does
(Someone hope wants and sees attractive That person has made up her mind on someone else and is sure about it.)

And her mind aches And her heart breaks Cause she's silly (?)

(That person is conflicted between choosing Hope or her new lover) ( Her feelings get hurt when she over thinks of this over looked careless decision.)

Gonna teach her to sin Cause I'm always knowing where she's been Livin' on the wrong side of the tracks And you know she's never Coming back

Hope feeling sad for her wants to teach her to sin because hope can relate to her needs / frustrations or feelings for another human and by having an affair or getting back together they can release that tension. But hope knows shes never coming back to that.

She's got a smile like a flower She looks so fine by the hour

Her smile is metaphorical, that which , by the hour her smile increases but everyone knows its just a put on.

But her mind aches And her heart breaks Cause she's silly (?)

Gonna teach her to steal Cause I'm always knowing How she feels Livin' on the wrong side of the tracks And I know she's never Coming back

Oh no...

And her mind aches... And her heart breaks... Cause she's silly...

To me (2x)
