Seeing her new life and the brand new person she is, he goes through a plethora of emotions: he's jealous, surprised, curious, angry, nostalgic, etc. When they were together, she was different than the other girls. Always being the type to stay at home, never really wanting to go out, sweet, a bit naïve- she was a good girl. He particularly remembers the calls he would receive from her late at night, wanting to make love, something that was important for both of them, something he had looked forward to.
Unfortunately, he had to leave her, I'm assuming for career purposes. Cue the nasty fight where tears drop and shit hits the fan, where she doesn't want him to leave but he has to.
