I think It's about him and his mum. That he has to lie about the child abuse not to hurt her, and the family. And his dissapointment in that she acually chose to withdraw from him rather than stand by him in this. She continued living her life in a lie too. But one part of him still loves her and wants the best for her, therefore he keeps on numbing himself
