Along with "Race With the Devil" by Gun (released the same year), "Fire" will have influenced a lot of other "doom" songs by heavy metal bands. The "God of Hellfire" is presumably influenced by Christian hell and the Devil. I think like a lot of heavy metal, the song is supposed to provide a bit of a "scare-thrill" with all the talk about burning people with hellfire, but like people have said, the verses indicate the song is about people who are living in dream worlds, thinking they're going to live forever etc. I guess it's rather violent though of course it's perfectly true that everybody's possessions eventually wear away along with their lives.
