Personally this song highlights part of my problem with any organised religion. In essence the band is a slave to their religion (faith). They seek truth but it is hard to see truth with crimson stained glasses.
The truth is they don't need a metaphysical saviour. The truth would let them see that the only saviour they need is themselves, their loved ones and those around them. But instead they have chosen to run a 'marathon' that will never let them see the truth and will ultimately will never end.
