Lyric discussion by theotherside

This song is about today's world where we are inundated with information and heavily biased messages in the media.

The information overload of today can swallow us whole if we allow.

--the story itself often gets swallowed whole in the flood of reporting/blogging/tweeting.

-One has to get "far from the noise" to even find what the original story is.

--Eddie's references to drowning, being pulled down, and loud noises (repetitiously at that) reinforce the message of too many conflicting reports on a singular story in "mainstream" media today.

-Also there are references to our control of what messages we receive, hence "I can choose the path; I could choose the word..." However, choose the message we WANT to be true, not necessarily the one that IS true.

-With social media and the 24 hour news cycle, there is no "quiet to be found" anywhere and our spirit can be sucked into the contrived debate.

--Once the story has been blurred beyond repair, a network or broadcaster will apologize and no one will remember it in the long run. That apology is like a "song whispered in the wind" and no one can hear it and we've turned the page to the next story.
