I've read somewhere about Jari's enthusiasm abou lyrics, he said that it ould be interpreted in so many different ways.
So of course, the original one is about his experience with tuberculosis like elvin-wizard said.
My interpretaton
But i feel another interpretation, when I was reading the lyrics for first time, I've asked myself: "Is it really from first album? Well musicalli it fits to it, but well the lyrics... it sounds like it is about the making of Time
Batlle against Time
From many points creating of Time I (and II) looks more like battle
From first line to last i feel this meanng of lyrics, look:
"I'm sailing away to undiscovered seas "
That's about the overwhelming number of tracks in Time (I), about how new and undiscoverd is what he is planning to be made.
"I reach my hands but there's no one on my path"
That's about his problems, no one who will came and help him finally create the album, there's many who tries to help, but it is not still enough.
"I can't sleep cause my body is burning
Cold sweat, cannot breath, I'm loosing my mind"
This is well known for everybody who has ever create something he realy loved, he really wanted to create well. He can't sleep, he must continue in procces of creation.
He's changing, he's concentrete only on Time, he is not Jori, he is someone who is creating Time
"Reflection in the mirror shows a different man at night"
"Watching to the night, the hope is gone
Carrying so much burden in my heart
Watching to the night with tired eyes
Waiting for nothing all my life"
Now he is realising that it's too hard for him. That he's just wainting, trying to make it better, but still nothing happens.
And this way, every sentence could be interpreted,
this is very interesting

He spend eight years of hard work and he made only half of his work... Still fighting, but no achievments
and i think that is clear how to interpret "Oh time, you cut my heart and soul"

So much fire inside, so much left undone"
He Loves what he is creating
and he hates... well... he hates what he is creating (Time I a II)
he's full by inspiration, so many songs he want to write, so many tracks to put in them...
but after so many years, only three songs, so much left undone...
