Your Love's Return Lyrics

This is one of the very best lyric love songs of all time. The intense theme - of a lover who has perhaps wronged the one loved returning - also appears in Shawn Phillips song called Woman. It is a good one for climbing out of the doghouse! The roses awaiting dewdrops are like his love or their love. The rose vines climbing the walls and windows make the porch scene like the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene, but here, love is more advanced, and much more complicated! The subtle variations of the lines in their position in the lyric structure tells the story of a meeting on a doorstep. The bells in the steeple are, in the center, the falling leaves. "Wake from your sleep" is like the princess, and in the image of the Revelation.
