Elena Tonra mainly wrote from things she experienced in some way. I believe this song is about a loss of a lover. But I don't think it was just any lover... I believe it was the only one she had fully fallen in love with and that's what made him so special. I believe that it's a story of a love gone wrong but neither of them wanting to admit that. I believe it's a song of neglect and regret. I think she wants to take everything back that she did wrong and make everything okay and so does he and that's why neither of them have left even though their love is clearly burning to ashes in front of them. Neither of them want to accept the fact that it's over... because once they do they will lose each other forever.

@SilentSymphony Nicely worded interpretation. However, I must be some crazy idealist because I just believe that real love doesn't actually burn to ashes. I guess a relationship can if they just aren't compatible or fight too much, but how does the actual love burn to ashes if they love each other the way you described. Does it have to be over? Sorry I just read interpretations like this & feel so bothered & don't understand it :(. You don't have to agree of course & I know it's not an actual interpretation or anything lol.

@SilentSymphony Your experience is your experience & so is your interpretation, so never mind what I said, I can't delete my comment though.
