I can really relate to this song through my own interpretation.
From my perspective and opinion, the narrator has his problems/insecurities and they show up sometimes.
"Sometimes I feel it coming back I feel that darkness at my back"
He's afraid of them and he hides them from his partner. He feels fake and like an impostor
"I was still the impostor with my suitcase on the floor"
Thus, he's trying to change and is looking towards the future for a change and so he can be a better person and the person his partner saw in him.
"That's why I'm always rearranging And looking forward to the seasons changing" "Hoping that I would some day come to be The man you always saw in me"
