First off, this is my favorite song of the album. It also feels the conceptual opposite of Ender from WIITB; whereas Ender seems to be someone reminiscing over the end of a destructive relationship, Inferium goes the other direction. Inferium appears to tell the story of someone breaking themselves down to the lowest level in a bid to save a relationship from destruction. Alternatively this could be a metaphor for staying with them wherever their music takes them, or a metaphor for the break-up and reuniting of the band.
There is the title as well; although Inferium doesn't appear to be a real word, it could be interpreted as the state of feeling inferior. Along with the first verse of the song, the lyrics are basically telling us everything from entire cities to individuals have been broken down because of not feeling good enough. We can all feel like we're "learning to crawl" again, or being put in our place, and sometimes it is an important step to building ourselves stronger.
It seems to be someone begging for one more chance. That they're not going to lie and say everything will be fixed straight away, because making mistakes are only human. And any jealousy or bad feeling ultimately comes down to a lack of confidence about themselves (again, this could be a reference to the direction the band have gone, or the break-up and reunion of the band).
The song finishes with the hope that it is not just the character who is holding onto this dream, but the other person/band members/fans as well; ready to jump into the unknown.
