I've heard this song by Kutless many times, and personally loved it. And over the time, I started trying to decode the meaning. And for you guys, I want to give you MY personal statement and thoughts about what the song MIGHT mean. You don't have to agree with anything I say, but I would love to know what you guys think about the way I decoded this song. I'm barely 15, so I might not be "on the dot" about it. But that's okay. Enjoy.
"Is my Imagination really running away
Or is all this really happening to me?
Am I a prince in a far away land filled with fantasy?"
From what I can see here, he seems like he's lost; Not necessarily meaning "lost in a certain area." Not exactly. His mind, and maybe his heart, may also be lost in the commotion of his life. He doesn't truly know his identity, or even what his purpose is, causing him to question himself about WHO he is, and WHY he's the person he is.
"Where is reality and what are the actions that will define who I am?
I am holding onto the visions I've seen of what I could be
It's what I should be"
From what I see of these lyrics, he's searching for something real. And he's trying to figure out how that could help him define his identity, or maybe his life. He keeps getting these mental images of what he could be, and so he tries to find a way to be what his "visions" make him out to be.
"More than it seems these dreams inside (show me the way to these dreams)
Blur reality's line ('til there's nothing that's left of me)
If I could believe the dreams aside (show me the way to these dreams)
I am capable more than it seems"
The lyrics, "more than it seems these dreams inside blur reality's line," states that his dreams are blinding the reality that he's living in, and he's starting to believe that the possibilities are impossible. But he slowly progresses through his journey, trying to believe in himself and the "dreams" that he put aside. And the last lyrics "I am capable of more than it seem" kind of relates to the sayings, "There's more to meets the eye," and, "The inward journey is about finding your fullness, something that no one else can take away."
Well you guys, that's all the time I have at the moment. If you guys have any comments about my description, let me know down in the comments section. If you prefer to talk to me privately, just send me a message and hopefully I have the time to go online to look at it. See you, and God bless you guys. ^w^
