I think this song is about how he loves this girl (Emily) and would do anything for her but, she always has a positive view on things where he has a negative view on things. He doesn't think he is the right person for her. He loves her but feels like she needs someone who he can never be.
"I die each time you look away" to me this means, everytime she's with others he feels as if she may stop loving him and fall in love with some else.
"Maybe she can save me in the oceans of her dreams" he's hoping maybe he can change for her sake and make her happy and be the man of her dreams (everything she's ever wanted)
"Emily will find a better place to fall asleep" he thinks she could find someone better then him. "She belongs to fairytales that I can never be" he doesn't think he is good enough for her and thinks it'd be better if she was with someone other then him.
