I think it's pretty political. The first verse refer to people who claim to kill in the name of God, be it christians or muslim, guess it's pretty much the same though "Thou shalt not kill" is clearly christian.
The second verse refers to domestic violence. victims say it ain't that bad coz some people just are this way "He was just brought up that way" meaning the man that beats his wife is raised with the same violence so he can't know better.
both are pretty tough statements about society but still there's hope, we gotta do better and be better so our children will be better than us.
