Sorry to resurrect the dead here, but I couldn't let this one sit as stated. "Talk about suffering" is a very old hymnal written by an unknown or at least undocumented writer. Some believe(myself included) that The gospel Jesus was trying to spread was founded on gnostic ideals. Indulgences of the body and flesh do nothing for the spirit within. Jesus's crucifiction was to set an example that there is no pain and suffering here on earth that would cause him to abandon his faith. A lot of the gospel tunes you hear in old bluegrass music are simply church hymns still sang today. Ralph Stanley "Gloryland" is another great tune based around these same ideals.
