This is just my interpretation.
I think its about someone whose desperately trying to find themself. Constantly trying to find someone to love them because he feels lost and can be alone because he doesn't know who he is and can't stand it. So he always pushes to find someone that loves him because he can't love himself and feels safe when someone else can find a reason because he can't. So he presses on and is too inept to learn and to do it any other way so he repeats a cycle.
