In parts Warren is talking about his impending death here. The line "get here before I fall asleep" is very touching. He is telling whoever he is addressing to get there before he dies. Maybe he has to tell that person something - I don't know exactly what he was referring to but I find it very powerful. He expresses that line in a such a melancholic way that it is hard to believe he would be talking about anything else. He's also reflecting on his life: "I've always taken care of business I've paid my first and last". Really touching song and one of the best of his fantastic final album. Lindley's playing really elevates the song to a whole other level. Warren may be gone but he hopefully will never be forgotten.
