Turning Into You Lyrics

People have given this song a lot of hate for sounding very similar to Rise Against's Ready to Fall. I was exactly the same way when I first heard it, but now I think they did that on purpose. Ready to Fall is a famous enough song that it probably wasn't an accident and The Offspring is smart enough to know not to copy other bands. This song seems to be about struggling to draw the line between who you want to be and who others want you to be. The Offspring has gotten a lot of hate for how much they've changed in recent years, with people accusing them off turning into a Rise Against clone, so this song's music is representing that. The lyrics about that struggle: "The pictures are broken, the front door's open, the scars are left behind" (They want to try something new and take the band in a different direction), "Could you just hear me, just really hear me" (Give the new style a chance), "I've been drowning in a sea of tryna please you, it's all I'll ever be, it's all I ever knew" (they feel so pressured to do what the fans want but they're tired of doing the same thing as before) "Another rejection, my insurrection" (The fans won't accept the new music).
