I think y'all are reading the meaning a little too literally. Yes, she is telling her husband or fiance that she is going to meet an old flame at the train station, however, she is going because she WANTS to see him. She could easily write a letter or even not go, but she wants to see him because she still, deep down, probably never stopped loving him and perhaps, wants to see if she still feels that way when she sees him in person. I mean, why write a song about a casual meeting with an old flame at a train station to inform him you are married? This makes the song more daring, honest, and downright interesting! :)
