This song speaks for itself really but I am currently going through a similar phase, so I feel I could lay my interpretation of his attitude for this song.
Its really true what they say about college, if youre an outgoing person who wants to party you WILL party. and it will fuck you up. I've always stayed stray of that stuff, but 99% of my friends didn't and over half of them already dropped out of college and the other half got shit for grades cause of the hang overs and late parties and fraternity events and what not.
I think he sees this girl (that he likes) and knows she is that type, as if he cant really trust her and hes embracing himself for the pain of losing her and watching her potentially ruin her life.
I also look at when he said "I came here against my will" as he didn't ever want that but she doesnt care and is doing what she wants against him. So he arrived at this situation against his will.
I find alot of meaning in this song personally, such a great writer.
